Fulcrum
Project Fulcrum blends the organic grooves of the cello with the serial character of the modular synth, creating EDM with a twist. The ensemble, consisting of Jascha Bordon and Joost van Dalen, doesn’t use fixed structures or scores. They create a set in the moment, reacting on each other and the audience. This creates a unique experience for the audience, while staying true to the goal of edm: feel the beat and loose yourself in the moment of dance.
Fulcrum is part of the vision of Futur, a platform created by Jascha Bordon to create a new sound by bringing together (classical) acoustic musicians and electronic music producers. The results of this collaborations were already tested on Dutch music festivals in the summer of 2023, such as Mysteryland.
Jascha Bordon is a classically educated cellist with almost 2 decades of performing experience. In orchestra’s, solo shows and small ensembles. Having worked with several very known and less known electronic producers, like Armin van Buuren, David Guetta, Martin Garrix, Electric Cinema, and various electronic oriented groups, the passion for EDM music has grown over the years. Jascha is motivated to show the potential of live string instruments in electronic music, and make them an integral part of the creative process of modern day electronic dance music.
Joost van Dalen is a proficient performer on modular synths. He is educated in music technology with his main focus on live performance and electronic music improvisation.
As Djoust he made a small name for himself as a dj in the dutch underground rave scene and co-organizing jungle parties.
Joost is now spending most of his free time exploring, building and playing modular synthesizers.
By improvising Joost uses his emotions to let the music flow, it allows him to be fully in the present and explore the now.
Their collective vision is to bring the mesmerising sounds of cello and modular synth to a larger audience, and to take people on this surprising auditive journey.
